In conversation with Jeffrey Rosen, David M. Rubenstein discusses the relationship between the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, telling the story of how one landmark document led to the next in the context of the evolving story of America’s battle for freedom. David M. Rubenstein is the co-founder and co-chief executive officer of The Carlyle Group. From 1977 to 1981, he was Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy during the Carter administration; from 1975 to 1976, he served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments.
